New York, NEW YORK

April 8, 2008 - Brooklyn assemblywoman Diane Gordon, 57, a four-term assembly member, was convicted today on six counts, including bribe receiving as a legislator.

She was convicted of having tried to steer city-owned land to a private developer who agreed to deliver her a free house in exchange for her help. Unfortunately for Gordon, the developer was working undercover for the city's Department of Investigation which had snared him in his own schemes months earlier.
The Village Voice identifies her as "Gordon, 57 and a Democrat..." The latter was an edit after as three people who remarked on the fact that her political affiliation wasn't listed. The developer was to build her a half-million dollar house in a gated community in Queens. Queens has gated communities??!! Who knew?
